Low Running Costs Touted with Epson’s New WorkForce Pro Printers

Epson’s WorkForce Pro printers

Even though there is less paper being used today, it is still a critically important aspect of how organizations across all segments communicate. Hard copy is still valuable and in the vast majority of cases the content is printed in black ink, or monochromatically. The new Epson’s Workforce Pro printers address this need with a line of products that are more cost effective compared to laser mono printers.

According to Epson, the WorkForce Pro WF-M5694 multi-function and WorkForce Pro WF-M5194 single function monochrome printers provide the lowest-cost monochrome printing in their class. The company says they have been designed to maximize business productivity for small business and small networked groups.

Epson’s WorkForce Pro Printers Go High Speed

For small businesses, a networked group could have several employees and go as high as 500 with wired or wireless connection on the same network. The Workforce printers can provide the high volume monochrome printing these groups need without having to invest in office grade mono laser printers.

Epson was able to achieve this by integrating its precision inkjet technology, PrecisionCore, which can deliver high-speed printing with superior output quality and durability using inkjets. The company says these printers have the same functionality and productivity as competing lasers, but without the cost while producing laser-sharp text on a wide variety of media with its DURABrite Ultra Ink.

The networking capability of the printers include IT admin tools, security features and network configuration with built-in wired and wireless connectivity plus WiFi Direct, print from smartphones, tablets and the cloud. These are features that are essential in today’s connected, collaborative and remote workforce environment.

The connectivity of the printers is protected with secure PIN printing, user access control and Web configuration for better management. The WLAN security has WEP 64 Bit, WEP 128 Bit, and WPA PSK (AES) encryption with network management protocols that include SNMP, HTTP, DHCP and others.

The M5000 series has a 10,000-page cartridge yield and up to 580 sheets maximum paper capacity with fast print speeds of 20 ISO page-per-minute.  The WF-M5694 supports auto two-sided printing, copying, scanning, and faxing.

Pricing and Availability

The WorkForce Pro WF-M5194 single function monochrome printer has an MSRP of $209.99 and is now available. The WorkForce Pro WF-M5694 multi-function monochrome printer has an MSRP of $399.99 and it will be available in late April.

Going paperless is a trend many organizations are adopting, but paper will be with us for the foreseeable future. For small businesses that still need to print a large number of monochrome documents with network capability, Epson’s WorkForce Pro printers offer an affordable solution.
