Summer has finally arrived and for many seasonal businesses, it is a time when their revenues thrive. As the weather continues to heat up, the volume of outdoor activities will rise. Travel, hospitality and restaurant businesses will see increases during the summer months. Landscapers, fishermen, and ice cream truck operators see the bulk of their revenues from June through September.

However, for other companies, the summer months can be slow. With the kids home from school, employees may want to use their vacation time for a family trip. Just because the coming months are historically slow for your business, does not mean that you should “mail it in” this summer. In fact, you should be trying even harder to increase revenues and now is the time to do that as the economy is as good as it has been in nearly a decade.

Consumer spending improved at its fastest pace in the last seven years in April 2016, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce. Personal income and household spending, which account for more than two-thirds of America’s economic output, also improved. This is encouraging news for small business owners and entrepreneurs, but it is important to harness that potential for sales and profit, too.
