Need a Video Streaming Channel? Try Uscreen

Need a Video Streaming Channel? Try Uscreen

Many small businesses already understand the value of video when it comes to marketing. But what about if you want to make video the product that your business sells?

In that case, you wouldn’t want to just upload your content to a site like YouTube where anyone can access it for free. But building your own secure channel can be complicated. That’s where Uscreen comes in.

What is Uscreen?

Uscreen is a platform that lets businesses create their very own video streaming and subscription channels they can use to sell content. About 70 percent of users are small businesses, according to Uscreen’s President PJ Taei. And a majority of those customers use the platform to offer elearning content like fitness classes, hobby related tutorials and even professional training. And you can use the platform to offer regular subscriptions to viewers or even just one-time video sales.

For its part, Uscreen gives you pretty much everything you need to build your own subscription streaming or video channel, except for the content. Things like video hosting, coding and billing are all taken care of. But you can build your own website and landing pages on which to show off the content you have available. And, of course, the actual video creation is up to you.

In addition, Uscreen doesn’t take any commission on the videos or subscriptions that you sell. Instead, it charges a regular monthly subscription fee, which can range from $99 to $500 a month depending on the features and amount of storage you require.

So to get started, you need to choose the plan that best fits your business’s needs, then use the platform to upload your content. It’s a do-it-yourself type of interface. You upload your video content and update any relevant details. But there’s no coding or complicated tech involved. You can choose from a selection or pre-built templates and use a theme editor to make sure that everything looks the way you want it.

Initially, Taei didn’t intend to build a platform that focused mainly on subscription videos. He started a separate business called WebNet Hosting, which provides streaming services and managed hosting solutions. But after starting that business, he found that there weren’t many options out there for secure video platforms that let users sell subscriptions. So he created one.

You can actually also use the site to distribute other types of content, like podcasts or documents, in a subscription format. But video is a main focus for now. The growing popularity of video makes it a valuable offering for a variety of different businesses. And the subscription model is also becoming more and more popular with businesses and consumers alike. So Taei is confident that Uscreen’s offering can help businesses become profitable.

Taei said in a phone interview with Small Business Trends, “Video in itself is getting so big right now. And the subscription economy is so strong. There are so many different ways businesses are profiting from offering subscriptions of some kind to customers.”
