I’ve recently been teaching a few different cartooning classes at libraries and schools. It’s been a lot of fun, the kids are great, and it’s been a good opportunity to take a look at how I do things so I can effectively explain it.
When it comes to writing, one of my suggestions is to avoid puns. Puns are the low hanging fruit of cartoon gags. They’re too easy. They’re lazy writing.
But sometimes even I can’t resist, as you can see by this cartoon.
Don’t tell my students, OK?
